Department of Immigration Extends Service Hours to Enhance Visa Process Efficiency

The Department of Immigration has announced extended service hours from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm starting today, providing services seven days a week. This decision comes as a measure to facilitate easier and quicker service flow for individuals residing both domestically and internationally. Rudra Singh Tamang, the Director General of the department, explained that with the increasing reliance on e-visas, delays in obtaining visas have been observed, particularly for travelers from Europe and America. Extending service hours aims to address this issue and instill confidence in tourists visiting Nepal.

According to a statement released by Director Rewati Raman Sharma, during the extended hours, services such as application and approval for e-visas, additional tourist visa processing, conversion of tourist visas from group visas, issuance of group tourist visas, and trekking permits will be facilitated. Information regarding the application and acquisition process for e-visas can be found on the department's website.

The notice also mentions that visa fees can only be paid online from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, citing bank closures. Tamang clarified that payments can be made through any bank's app, ensuring convenience for applicants. Additionally, payments can also be made via phone pay, connect IPS, and wallets.

With the implementation of extended hours, sufficient arrangements have been made to manage the workload effectively. Employees working during the extended hours will receive additional compensation according to the rules of the Ministry of Finance.
